and for choosing your hardware, you can ask us. we can tell you what's good hardware and what's not, and what's a good deal on hardware.

now, the Venice core is AMD's latest core. it is the same as the San Diego, but the San Diego has more L2 cache.
it is also the same as what they use in the X2's (dual core CPU's) except there's 2 in there.

the Toledo is a dual core San Diego (1MB L2 cache each core), and the Manchester is the dual core Venice (512kb L2 cache each core).

the Venice/San Diego was designed to reach really high speeds, and it does. the 3000+ and 3200+ are popular, because they both usually reach at least 2.8GHZ from 2.0 or 2.2 (3000+ = 2.0GHZ, 3200+ = 2.2GHZ stock)
don't let the clock speeds fool you, an AMD 2.0GHZ CPU performs about the same as an Intel 3GHZ CPU. a 2.8GHZ AMD will perform roughly like a 4.2GHZ Intel.

the 6600 GT is a very good card, however, the ATI X900 is going to come out soon. that means the prices should drop on it. maybe you can get a higher end card when the prices drop.

also, Harper said AMD's prices are going to drop also, so you might want to consider that

the Sempron's are descent, but they don't have the same performance because they have less cache.
they also don't have 64-bit extensions. there are Sempron 64's though, which do.
I'd still suggest a Venice core Athlon 64 over it, because of the overclockability, and really good performance even at stock

I built mine when I was 14, everyone is just as capable of doing it. All you need to do is fit everything in like a jigsaw, and have a light but firm hand.

Spend a couple of weeks thinking about it, and preparing to build it. Be on the look out for a anti static wrist band. If you have a old PC aound the house, take it apart, and put it back together again.

Well after I get this comp can't I just upgrade stuff because i can live with an "ok" comp and wait till my birthday and just get a new processor and call it a day ....
