new video card

So i bought a new video card, its a GeForce-FX5500 256Mb DDR-OEM, and i put it into my asus A7V8X-X motherboard. Now what happens is that when i boot up my computer, I see the windows xp loading screen, but after that i get nothing, just black and i dunno what it is. Anybody know why?

Did you uninstall the old video drivers before you put the card in?

put ur old card back in and unistall the old drivers then try

it could be your drivers, but a problem i had last time i took out my video card and applied some different thermal grease, when i booted it up xp. but afterwards my screen was all messed up it was there but i could hardly make out stuff. taking out the card and putting it back in solved my problem (not sure if it is the same problem as yours). so try removing it and putting it back in. if that doesn't work i'd say it's either faulty or its because you forgot to reinstall the drivers.
