60/80Gb ATA100 IDE

am fixing a friends computer for him. basically, his hard drive is wrecked and im fitting him a new one. he has a Daewoo system of which the chipset is intel 440BX (the mobo is CB641X-BX). The hard drive controller on the motherboard is UDMA 33. I have been told by a couple of people that the maximum sized hard drive i can fit for him is 20Gb - I have no idea why this is so! ... I have never heard of this before - is this true? .. if so - why? ... I assumed that i would be able to install a 60/80Gb ATA100 IDE drive on the system, but this would run at UDMA 33 speed, as this is the fastest the controller can handle?
 
i think it used to be a factor that the BIOS would not recognise specific hard disk physical structure past a certain size. another factor is the filing system. who told you this motherboard support max ata33? i found your mobo specs and it says ata66 max. i do not think you will have a problem with that 60/ 80GB on his old machine. here is the specs:
