Hmmm...mine didn't come like that either. I would have to guess that AS5 is better than the pads.

Yeah, on my X800XT PE i used AS5 "tiny, thinly spread amount" on both sides of the RAM's, which are touching both sides of the HS. It must cool the RAMS pretty good because i can OC the memory from 560 to 600+

thanks guys for the advice.... hopefully i would get instruction on how to remove the stock heatsink with the NV5 cooler... o yea the temps im getting for my hard are not overclocked temps
