Hello. for the past few days when I start my computer I get a prompt that says I should backup all files because failier is imenant. My computer is in decent shape. No other problems until now. I checked device manger and everything looks good. I defraged and that didn't help. Do I need to reformat or just get a new hard drive. I would like to just fix the problem without dealing with all the issues involved in the above. Thanks for any help you might have.

Do a search with Spybot S&D and if it doesn't find anything, do a search with Adaware. After that, do a scan with some sort of virus scanner.

Is there anyway you can take a screen shot of the popup and let us see it?

I would start by backing up and DATA... THEN start looking for a virus
OR it could just be that your disk is getting ready to die...
check the model/maker -goto their web site and see if its under warranty....
when you call them, they will run U thru some checks...
and send you anew drive if you need it...
