Okay I know about the AMD!

AMD Duron
AMD Althon XP/Sempron (Barton, Mobile, Thorton)
AMD Althon 64 754/Sempron (Too many!)
AMD Althon 64 939 (Only the new line, Venice, S/D, X2)
AMD Althon 64 939 FX53, 55, 57, I think there is a 59
AMD Althon 64 Opteron

Thing is I don't have a clue how the Intel!

Well I do a bit .... does anyone have a nice chart/table for me? ... or can explane!?

What about the numbers like 840 and 550?

Also I have seen things like Celeron D, is 'D' meaning DESKTOP?
 
Intels do less per clock cycle as opposed to AMDs. Intels compete through sheer power, AMDs through more efficent use of resources and HT
