This is my first computer build and I was looking for something small so it wouldnt take up much space I was hoping if someone could tell me if these components are alright or if I could go for any cheaper alternative. Would this build be considered upgradable and best value?

Most of the users here are nvidia fans.
The benchmarks that I have seen do place the 6800gt above the x800xl most of the time, but it is your call so whatever seems the better option to you.

Oh yeah and that card you link to is out of stock.

you really should go with the 6800gt
it is a much better card in terms of value and performance

also i wouldnt reccomend getting a barebones kit

third you really don't need 2 gigs of ram
stick with a gig of g skill or something
with the money you save upgrade the pcu to a 3200 venice

and i wouldnt reccomend having a raptor in a small case
-its loud and makes a lot of heat

and finnally there are no barebones socket 939 systems available on the egg... not sure whats goin on but i looked and cant find any.

well the reason he want 2 gigs is cause thats all that supported and he wants to prolly get that out the way so u dont need it but if uve got the money and u want it go for it muchkin is some good stuff and as said befor get the 6800GT ati=not so liked round here or anywhere for that matter

what company's gt would u guys recommend in terms of good overclockability, price, and long term use?

nevermind, im not going sff nemore. After thinking about it for a little bit its not gonna be worth it in the long run... Im gonna build this plz give me some suggestions if needed
