I am having problems with XP. Every time I open Windows Explorer, Internet Explorer, Recycle Bin, Control Panel, My Computer, basically any Windows application, I get an error message saying "Windows has encountered an error and needs to close". This doesn't happen in safe mode or administrator mode. Netscape and other programs seem to work fine. I can still browse around using Run from the start menu. Any help would be appreciated.:)

just disable the startup items in the MSCONFIG by booting up the system in safe mode and also disable the non microsoft services ]
your problem will be resolved

system restore is also an option

ask me if any help is needed

If you still use IE, Recycle Bin, Control Panel... normally when error messages appear, you can remove these, which make everyone unpleasant  , by doing this:
Right click on "My computer" icon, choose properties --> Advanced --> Error Reporting

Another way I think is the best way is reinstall your OS.:)

Thanks for responding. I tried reinstalling the OS, going into Msconfig and using Selective Startup with everything disabled except Boot ini. I don't have an earlier system restore point for some reason. The error messages are actually correct though because nothing opens.
