Yeah, intel just came out with 64bit processors. Sure, took a while but eventually they did. I think the name of the first one was like, the P4EE.. or am I wrong? I dunno, I don't really keep up to date with my intel like I should.
But yes, if someone's comfortable with Intel? let them stay there man. Unlike the vidcard war (ATI vs Nvidia) for cpu's the differences aren't life-or-death. CPU's are more predictable as the differences from each cpu by clock speed is predictable since that's one of the main ways cpu's are measured. vidcards rely mainly on better and faster cores for each new vidcard. How often does a cpu core change too guys? not that fast. Vidcard cores change like, almost every 1-2 new models.
So yes, if he gets intel? the preformance gap in gaming won't be THAT huge anywho. Sure a few frames slower than AMD, but hey, it's not that noticeable anywho, for all we know he might be into video encoding n' such like a video editor, so getting Intel would be for the better.
