PSU question

God I feel like a noob, but I have a question.

I just built my computer today, and I am waiting for my processor, and my 20-24 pin adapter for my fatal1ty board. Anyway, when I plug in my powersupply in the wall, should my fans come and stuff? Or do I need my motherboard plugged in to control the power? I am kinda worried here, never not had all my stuff to build. HAHA

Wait, I"m pretty sure that if your fans are connected to the moltex connectors, they should be powered by the Power supply.........

I plugged in the PSU and everything but nothing happened no flash of light or anything. Was that sarcastic?

your fans will turn on when your system does. the battery on your motherboard gives it just enough power for the clock, and to be alert of the power switch. when you press the power switch, your motherboard sends a signal to your PSU to turn on. then the PSU will start giving power to everything
