Process Type? huh?

I was looking at processors at newegg and noticed something labeled "Process Type"

90 nm Venice

0.13 µm Thoroughbred

0.13 µm Barton

90 nm Winchester

0.13 µm ClawHammer

0.13 µm Newcastle

90 nm San Diego

whats a process type and what do they mean?

Process is the thickness of the wires connecting the transistors. the smaller the better. Generally speaking the smaller they are the less power they require meaning less heat generated.

The secound part is the core. Vience and San deigo being the best ones for amd right now. They both have treaked memory contoler, .90 process and SSE3.

San deigo being the better one because it has double the cache then the vience. other then the cache vience and san deigo is about the same.

The different names are the cores for the processors...they pretty much explain the bus speed and the structure of the processor
