I got a 1967

my setup
amd64xp 3000+
1gig of ram pc400 (2x512)
visiontek 9600xt 256mb
msi 845pe mobo (http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1273)
western digital 200gb 7200rpm (8mb cache)
windows xp pro

I just reinstalled xp pro and installed the latest ati driver, and 4 in-ones.

I really dont understand why this computer isnt playing games maxed out...or excelling in 3d mark.

That seems about right, think about it, the 9600XT is a midrange card circa 2002(?), and the 6800GT, circa 2004, gets about 5K, which was the high range fading generation card.

the card still sells for 95$ on ebay...can it really be that outdated, when I got it a few months ago it seemed like a strong buy.

It is outdated but it doesn't necessarily make it a bad card, the 7800GTX which is a highend card is roughly $600 and the 6800GT is roughly $300 and is a highend mainstream card so you can kind of get an idea of what higher perfomance cards costs

and here are a couple links to check out:

For those charts, my X850 XT scored right on par.

As for the 9600 XT, u have 2 keep in mind that benchies are named for the year of gfx they represent...3dmark01 = 2001, 3dmark03 = 2003, 3dmark05 = 2005. The 9600 XT is definitly not 2005 era card, so it isnt going 2 score that well.
