Problem Saving to FDD & HDD in MS Word 2000

HELP!!

I'm having a problem I am running a system of Windows 2000 SP4 and MS Office 2000. All MS updates are uptdate, but when in MS Word I try to save anything to the FDD or HDD the computer freezes and does not respond.

Is this the only time you get a access error for saving something. Can you still download file and save documents from word pad or notepad? It might just be that Word is trying to access a folder that it can't find that is why it is taking so long or not working. Either that or your hard drive is showing signs of age and wear and might be on the verge of crashing. See if you can save from wordpad or notepad first.

why are you using such an old office program? I bought office 2003 (pirated) and its far more advanced. Or just buy works, office 2000 is far too outdated.
