I've got a problem, I hope you guys can help me out.

I want to install x64 on my new SATA drive. I pop the x64 cd in my dvd drive, and it looks like the cd is about to boot and give me the xp setup screen, but it just stays at a black screen. The dvd rom is only a few months old.

And even when I get this fixed, I believe I need a x64 SATA drive so the drive will even be writeable, correct?

Enlighten me!!

You don't need SATA to install XP x64. Mine is on a SATA WD Raptor though. I dunno why yours won't boot off the CD...

Update:

I got my x64 installation disc to run, but I had to insert the disk after powering up during the mobo logo. Who the f knows. ?

But I still need a x64 SATA driver, which isn't on my SATA driver floppy. All I can find online are utility installations, not the .sys file that goes on a floppy and can select when you f6 during windows installation. Can anyone give me a link?

look for it. it is hidden somewhere on your mobo cd (one of the files will be textoem.setup or something). copy the files to your floppy disc
