Hi, I have a AMD XP 2400+ processor with the Palomino core. It seemed to me that the processor was running a little too hot for my tastes (60-61°C), so I purchased a new heatsink and fan (Coolermaster Vortex Dream). Still I'm running at about 55 C. I've replaced the thermal paste aswell. Still no difference. I have tried a few other copper cored heatsinks too, still no change. Is it possible that this is just how hot the processor runs? Any suggestions for bringing the temp down a little are welcome. I like to hold on to my investments, and I know that running the processor like this isn't going to make it last forever! Thank you.

i believe that the older AMDs (XPs) did run hot. Is your CPU overclocked? Is there a large ammount of dust in the case?
