Stock HSF w/ AS5

Has anybody here scraped off the stock intel HSF thermal pad thats for lga775.

And used AS5 instead.

Also what kind of temp improvments did you see?

You need to scrape it off first, than use the isophyll to clean the remains off.

i guess i sound like a know it all but don't you mean isopropyl. normally i would let a spelling error go it's just people might be getting confused. i may be wrong because you may be talking about something else. fyi anyone reading this who may get confused isopropyl=rubbing alcohol.

I can tell you that on my Athlon 64 3000+ Venice, I run idle at around 26-28 C. This is with the stock HSF but with AS5.

I would get it. It's worth the few degrees lower. Not to mention, if you build more than one computer, you can use it for them too. A tube of AS5 lasts for quite a few computers.

Yes, I have, I saw a tempature drop of about 3 degrees, and this is before the break in period. I used ArctiClean to clean the old stuff off the HFS however.

I think it would be a waste of AS5, stock HSF's really don't do any good anyways.
