wont be buying all ths from www.overclockers.co.uk I just used it plan out my build!

I chose 2 GB of RAM so in the future games will still own I am hoping this computer will be mid range in 2/3 years time.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+ (OcUK/£446.44)

Asus A8N-SLi Deluxe nForce4 SLi (OcUK/£117.44)

Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3200C2PT TwinX (2x1GB) CAS2 (OcUK/£182.07)

Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10 250GB SATA 16MB (OcUK/£88.07)

NEC ND3540 16x16 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) (OcUK/£32.78)

Antec NeoPower 480W ATX2.0 PSU (OcUK/£82)

Coolermaster Wave Master - Black (OcUK/£102)

** All comes to about £1000/$1800 however once some others have given me thier verdict I can look at other places as OcUK are expensive!

Now for the video card ....

Leadtek WinFast GeForce 6800 GT 256MB
£240 x 2 = £480

Or save up for this ......

Leadtek WinFast GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB DDR3 X 2
£287 x 2 = £574

I'll order nearer or even after chirstmas so the parts are MUCH cheaper .... maybe if they drop a lot I could get a 7800GTX?

So what GFX card?

I like you're style, as for the GFX card I can't help you with that, I'm not to good with that myself lol.

You are going to need more than 480W if you plan on a 6800Ultra/GT SLI rig. Do not get the ultra, it is a huge waste of money, the only difference between the GT and the Ultra is that the Ultra is clocked a little faster, but the GT easily overclocks past ultra speeds on stock cooling. Get two Leadtek 6800GTs.

I don't like the mobo, you should've gotten a dfi one. But that's okay anyway. i also would've gotten a seagate barracuda, not a maxtor, but its okay too. Get 2x6800gts, or by then 7800gtxs. Not worth getting 2 6800ultra, because 1 7800gtx will beat it. ALso, why isn't this post in cnet also?? Also wheres the sound blaster audgiy 2zs gamer edition? Optical drives? Don't forget operating system and a tube of arctic silver. Now watch your costs skyrocket... 1800 kind of expensive.

Don't get leadteks.

Go with Giga-Byte, eVGA, or MSI. In no specific order they all are reliable. But leadteks arn't up there...

I believe that a 7800 GTX is about the same price as 2x 6800 GTs, and its faster. Get a bigger PSU, and get the DFI Lanparty nForce4 Ultra-D mobo

Okay after crimbo i'll get a 7800 unless it's too expensive, i'll get a 6800GT

Oh yeah I WILL get a Seagate, I only liked that Maxtor because 16 MB cache!

I only need one optical drive
NEC ND3540 16x16 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) (OcUK/£32.78)

Oh yeah I wont use the retail heatsink and paste!

How about the ZalMan?
Zalman CNPS7700-CU Ultra-Quiet CPU Cooler

Or someone find me one?
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_CPU_Coolers_1.html

I want it to cool well and be quiet at the same time .... don't go over £20/25 though!

I have Windows ready

Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound this one?

I think a 480W PSU could handle 7800GTX X 2
If not, pick another out for me! not more than £70!

Negative. Twin 6800 GT/Ultra on SLI will beat a single 7800 GTX in cetain benchies, but it is £200/$X00 more expensive. However, SLI'd 7800 GTX's will whoop a 6800 GT/Ultra SLI setup, so investing in a 7800 GTX now and saving up for a second will give you far more headroom for upgradability.

As for the CPU, I assume you are aware that PC games won't immedeatly take advantage of a dual-core CPU, because games aren't designed to utiltise the dual-core architecture as of yet. The advantage is however that you can run apps in the background without intruding on your gaming performance.

Yeah okay, I WILL NOT get a 6800

insted even if I don't have the money I'll get a 7800 even if it's just one!

then get another later, or with it!
