I just bought an optical wireless RF USB mouse. It was advertised as having a range of 7 ft. When I plugged it into my laptop it wouldn't respond.
The mouse itself is definitely working, as the red light at the bottom is flashing as it should. I tried all my possible BIOS settings (Ps/2, PS/2 & touchpad, serial). Device manager recognises the mouse. The receiver has no light, so I can't tell if it's receiving, but the it's definitely within range. (In fact I tried the mouse with it practically touching the receiver).
The mouse is not a brand name, but the manual says it doesn't need a driver. I run Windows XP Pro. I tried it on another WinXP machine and it still didn't work, but I don't know the BIOS settings on that machine.
Any help would be appreciated.
