2 X 36GB WD Raptor, Raid 0 ($303.90 CAN)

or

2X 200GB Diamondmax 10, Raid 0 (333.90 CAN)

In your opinions, which would suit a digital recording studio better? The 400 GB would be sweet, but would the performance be much worse? Are these Diamondmax 10 drives as reliable as the Raptors? I have been using Maxtor for years with no issues.

Thanks!

nite took the words out of my mouth.... i have heard some bad stories about maxtor though but have never personally used one so... ummm i say what nite says and get the raptor.. .Speed and Reliability.. VERY good combination :)

I would get a pair of Seagate drives and put those in RAID, most reliable drives IMO

The dual raptors don't give that huge of a jump from a single raptor. Where as Dual normal 7.2k hdd give a bigger jump in performance, to about the same speed, plus you get alot more space.

I wouold also put my vote for 2 seagates, quiet and extremly reliable.

I have had a Maxtor go, and probally have another one go, as it sounds like a car is going over gravel when being used. But that is in a 6 year old PC.

The maxtor. 36 gb raptors perform at a lower rate than the 75 gb.]

Edit: those are the 16 mb cache ones right?
