Hey!

I'm running a 512MB stick of Kingston PC2700 DDR333 on an Asus A7V8X-X motherboard.

My current timings are:
CAS# Latency: 2.5
RAS# to CAS# Latency: 5
RAS# Precharge: 4
Cycle Time (Tras): 9

These are the default settings. If I adjusted these to something a lot lower; for example:

CAS# Latency: 2
RAS# to CAS# Latency: 2
RAS# Precharge: 2
Cycle Time (Tras): 9

... Would I see a performance gain? I'm gathering that I will. But, what stress will I put on my system by doing so? Some other memory timing suggestions and their advantages would be helpful!

Thanks!

Yes you will see performance gains. If your ram can handle it, then fine. But I doubt your ram can handle that.

I was thinking of reducing the timings by a step each time and seeing how my system reacts. What would say is the best software to benchmark this? Memtest86+?

Thanks.

Has nobody else got any more information on this?
Not even any good articles to point me towards?

Thanks!
