NTLDR & other nonsense

fired up a shared computer and got the message: cannot find NTLDR

would not boot--tried several times. The BIOS did not see the drive.

took out the hard drive and hooked it up to an external usb HD enclosure. I was able to see the files but when I tried to copy them to the other hard drive the computer froze. waited and waited and finally rebooted.

now the drive does not even spin. I'e even plugged it into another computer internally and tried to run XP setup from the CD but still sees nothing. I have to original installation CD for the 80 GB Maxtor drive but it does not see it either.

I tried freezing. Nothing.

ANY help for me?

DELL, P4, 256 MB RAM, 1.2mhz, 80gb HD

Sounds like the drive died. Sorry.

yeh chances are the drive is dead, bad luck. if you can get it to still spin there is a chance you can recover the data by other means.

Yep, if it won't even spin, it is most likely dead. If you can, RMA it.

Well when I got that messege, I just used both my HDDs and it worked, but if one isn't spinning then it's dead.
