Also I want to save $$ by building it myself instead of getting ripped off by buying a Dell or something.

Well, its not that hard, but I had help when I built my first system. The key is the first system. After that, it gets way easier.

#1 is by far superior to #2

VIA's dont overclock well that's a fact, DFI's are guartneed to run at 300, and VIA's hit a block at 240-250
