okay, so I put an HP officejet 7310 all-in-one printer on my network with my laptop and desktop. Problem is, the only way I can print from the desktop is if my laptop is on. Any ideas? thanks.
The printer is connected to the laptop and is set to share printer on network? If it is than you would need to have the laptop on. If your printer has a ethernet port on the back, it should work independantley, on the network.
trifid hit it right on the money. Unless it has an ethernet port (this is unlikely) then which ever machine it is primarily installed on and shared from must ALWAYS be on for it to work as a network printer. If this is the case I would reccomend a print server for that printer this way it can be a true shared network printer and all that has to be on is your router.
