I wish to copy and edit what is on the monitor screen

I know that PrtScr on my keyboard sends a copy to Clipboard

But I don't know how to access Clipboard and to edit its contents if necessary.

I believe there are other short cuts to

1. eliminate cursor
2. to invert colours
3. to increase/decrease magnificaion

Here I am lost and need help

It will make a copy to anything. Hit prtscr, open word and paste, etc with wordpade, notepad but not a text document

OK, but when I press PrtScr nothing seems to happen so I just don't know where it has gone, other than Clipboard which I find in the hep files.

I know the PrtScr button is live as the combination Shift/Alt/PrtScr
creates a panel for enhanced viewing.

In no program. After PrtScr I right click on the screen and get a range of items, one of which is the greyed out "paste".

All I want to do is to get my image into either "Paint" or simply "My pictures"

So pasting direct to "My pictures" isn't possible, so paste to notepad or an e-mail - is that OK?

But to a simple mind, take me through the steps.
1. I have a screen I want to copy as an html file.
2. Press PrtScr
3. What then?

Notepad and email is ok. Have you tried it yet?I just saved my screenshot to Frontpage, saved it as html instead of htm and it saved it to windows picture and fax viewer.
