Which CPU?

Anyone have some advice of which CPU is better?

Intel Pentium D 820 (Smithfield Core) 2.8GHz, 800MHz FSB, 2 x 1MB L2 Cache... does NOT support Hyperthreading. cost: $252

Intel Pentium 4 640 (Prescott Core). 3.2 GHz, 800MHz FSB, 2MB L2 Cache... Supports Hyperthreading. cost: $271

Is the D the dual core? Either way, you probly won't notice much of a difference.

I use it for gaming and also recording and editing audio...

Well, one must ask, "What are you planning to use this PC for?"

If it's purely multimedia stuff you're into - i'd go with the PENTIUM D.
Although the P4 640 will do just fine for that. If it's gaming your planning on doing, Go with the P4 640 or consider going AMD, always the best option for gaming.

Wow, thats a hard choice, especially if you don't plan on overclocking. My gut feeling would be the dual core.
