How can i turn on a PSU while it is not in a PC. I heard i have to cross two pins on the motherboard connector and then it will work. Does anyone know what two pins to cross?
Thanks.
(Bit of a weird question but oh well, help is appreciated )
If you don't plan on using the PSU in a case anymore then cut the green wire on the 20 pin cable, and cut a black wire, then strip them and put them together. Make sure there is a switch on the back of the PSU to turn it on and off. But once you do this you will never be able to use the PSU in a case again, unless you want to put the wires back to how they once were.
A better way of doing it, get a paper clip, and make it touch the green wire, and the wire above (black) I don't think they need to be touching all the time, but I never tried, so it's only a asumption..
LOL I've always wondered how to do that. I got an idea out of Maximum PC for taking an old mobo, processor, and PSU, and letting the heat from the processor cook hot dogs cut in half.
