Mouse moving sporadically on an Inspiron 4000

Hey 1st post but I have an old Dell Inspiron 4000(Girlfriend's), formatted it, reinstalled Me but I still have the same problem where the mouse will just MOVE without any touching. It'll run and hide in a corner if you know what I mean. I have to drag it out using the Touch Bud which I think is the problem. Or a loose wire cause I have reinstalled all the mouseware drivers. Is there any way that i can disable the touch bud in the settings? I think it may be jammed or slighty stuck because the pointer always goes to the bottom right or bottom left part of the screen. Take the touchpad out and see what happens...or uninstall it

I think you can delete it in system properties and then opt not to install when Windows prompts you to.

They come with cheap optical mouses made by Microsoft. Just get a new mouse - you can't do anything about it - All the mice do this (every new Dell computer at my school has this problem)
