Sony CD R/W CRX230ED

XPpro/SP2 Athlon 64 on A8N-SLI motherboard. 2 GB PC3200 RAM.

I have a CD (as above) and DVD R/W on my recently acquired computer.

The CD plays perfectly but whe I try to write to it I always get : Files on this CD-ROM Drive are read only. You cannot copy or move files over to this CD-ROM drive.

The CD drive did not appear in "Send to" which it should have done by default and I inserted it as wll as my DVD R/W.

I found that the DVD R/W will write to my CD

Does anyone have a clue?

go to my computer, right click the drive,properties,then recording and check enable cd recording on this drive.

Thanks! You learn by your mistakes! Odd, however, that reording was not default "on".

no prob,same thing happened to me with my first cd burner.
