What BIOS do you have? Some BIOS can be reprogrammed using a ROM file on a floppy disk if there is corruption, such as AMI BIOS.

The trouble is you'll need to obtain the BIOS ROM file specific to your motherboard.

Alvin - where could i find this (bios rom file)? would it be on the asus website? i'll try anything about now.

If you are able to get a hold of the exact same mobo, your Windows should have no problem with it.

If you get a different mobo, you'll probably have to reinstall everything, losing all of your data unless you use your current hard drive as a data disk and reinstall on a different hard drive.

Ok, i don't care. Was planning on reformatting anyways.....lol. But the question i really want to get an answer for is the "whole chipset" thing. As long as i get a socket 478 i can have any chipset i desire right? It doesn't have to be a 845pe chipset(same chipset as the mobo i fired) i could chose a socket 478 mobo with an 845GV chipset instead, right? Thanks
and Trotter no offense taken, i guess this is what it takes to reallly figure out your computer. BTW- this is the first thing i've royally screwed up on my computer. Oh yea Trotter you'll get a kick out of this. I told my girlfriend today what happened(she has no clue about computers) and she asked me if it's because of all the porn i look at.....,LOL.
