ok about a year ago i was talkin about building my first computer, read up a bunch and put a list together that seemd alright to
the forum memebers that saw it. problem is i never built it so now im back again, me and a friend threw a list together that we thought
would be pretty sweet. im not sure what my budget is...but i think this list gets pretty close to it. so let me know what you think, feel free to be harsh if needed.

ps. total price atm is $1471, but thats all from newegg, i will look around for deals though.

Mr. Thor, your building your rig obviously for gaming right? I'm in a similar pick, ive been researching and asking around for what's right. From what you have chosen, it is pretty close to what im after as well. DFI is a great mobo with a lot of ability to oc if your into that. For gaming, go for San Diego core on your cpu choice. For very little more, its worth it. As many people would tell you, ATI isn't the greatest choice at the moment perhaps for gaming. It is a very heated subject, but many people have been recommending Geforce 6 series. Mostly the 6800GT since it seems to be the best for its value at the cuurent moment. Personally after my research, im going to wait a little longer, since the new generation of cards-cpus are being released. You might want to consider waiting a little too, but of course it is your choice and your research. Some1 may recommend upgrading your PSU choice, but it doesnt seem all that bad. If you want to know my choice since im on the same boat on you, im gona wait for the newest Geforce 7800 GTX to become a lower price, and purchase it along with an sli compatible mobo. That way down the road, i can buy that exact card for a lower price, and have 2x gfx cards to closely match whatever may be released at hi prices in new generations etc. Thats wat im choosing, but its just a choice of flexibility. If you choose sli, you may want to do a lot of research on that, and it will require a sli mobo and new psu. Everything else looks decent, just make sure you research a lot, and i dont kno if u have exp building urself, but i spent a lot of time practicing with old comps. Helped a real lot for me. Good luck on your choices and i hope other people give you strong help as well.

a.no san diego 3500+ only starts on 3700 and up
b. get the venice 3500 or up it to a 3700 san diego
c. change the gfx card get a 6800gt
d. dont get the corsair xms get something like the ocz platinum rev 2's
e. and imho the onboard sound on your mobo is better than the sound card you picked out

no has 3500+ with an unlocked multiplier. very rare f possible get it. the x800xl is faster thaN A 6800GT IN BENCHMARKS but 6800gt or 6600gt both have fp3 while x800x doesn't.
