No Task manager

hey all.....i'm running windowsXP-pro and am having this problem....i right click the task bar and select task manager...but ut never comes up....same thing with ctrl+alt+del.......also i've tried opening it in the Run menu as "taskmgr.exe" but it always comes back saying that it is in use by another program.......is there any way to correct this without a reformat? btw i'm not new to computers so dont hold back....

I know back in March a new AIM virus was spreading that disabled the use of taskmanager and regedit.

Take a peek at this site (I coudln't find the one on symantec.com) to get the removal tool/scanner.
