Asus GeForce 6800 GT 128MB or XFX GeForce 6600 GT 128MB (both same price)

Ive seen a reduced price Asus V9999GT/TD GeForce 6800 GT 128MB on a certain internet shop. There is also an XFX GeForce 6600 GT 128MB for a similar price. When comparing the specs it says the asus has:
- 350MHz Core Engine Clock speed
- 128MB 700MHz high speed DDR memory
- 16 Pixel Pipelines

And the XFX:
- 500MHz Core Clock Speed
- 128MB DDR3 2.0NS Super Fast Memory running at 1000MHz
..doesnt meantion pixel pipelines.

So the xfx appers to be faster. Also, should I be thinking about getting 256MB of video memory rather than 128, is the extra memory worth the performance increase? The card will mainly be used for BF2, farcry and joint ops. Id like to beable to run BF2 at good quality settings at 1024 x 768.

Any advice would be appriciated.

the core's are different. the clock speed does not give their performance against each other.

But what about the Video memory?
The xfx 6600gt is avialable with 256MB, at a price. The asus only has 128MB.

this doesnt make any sense...all 6800 GTs should have 256MB of GDDR3 memory...

get the eVGA or the leadtek 6800 GT, as it is much faster than the 6600 GT. There is no such thing as a 256MB 6600 GT. It was prolly just a 6600 u saw.

ASUS makes...questionable video cards. Dont get any of their vid cards

OK. I carnt realy afford a 6800gt, this asus was on offer. I read a review that the asus is based on the 6600 pcb or something like that. Well it seems like a dodgy card. So ill probably go for a 6600gt. Two questions, XFX or leadtek, i hear XFX is OC'ed out of the box? and 128 or 256 memory?, remember that this upgrade is mainly for BF2.

the Asus is a 'dodgy' card, I bought the V9999 6800 GT but my CPU kind bottlenecks the performance i could be getting. The card is still pretty good though, slightly more powerful than a 6600 GT.

Ok tell us the prices. The Asus card is the best peformer out of the two, but is NOT a 6800GT popular to belief.

And their are NO 256meg 6600GT's, normal 6600's come with 256 meg of ram, but these same cards offer ram that runs at half the speed, and a half speed cockspleed.

A 6600GT COMES ONLY IN 128 MB MEMORY. The standard 6600 has 256 MB, but is weaker due to its slower core and memory.

Get an eVGA or Leadtech... Do not get XFX. Way to many stories of Returning them.

If you hve to get a XFX or Leadtech, get Leadtech. Otherwise, I suggest the eVGA. I have one, and it works great.

And BFG's are OCed out of the box. XFX's are not.
