I am looking for a fanless vid card. I have checked newegg and found several. What makes a vid card good? I don't do much gaming but a little. Nothing too extreme though. The biggest thing I do is a lot of video editing and my wife likes to watch some 3d visualizations when listening to music. I was looking at a pci-e with 256 mg and found some from gigabyte and I think powercolor. What is your opinion on this? Thanks.

I think I would first look at the "system requirements" of the
software and go with the "recommended" specs and then bump
up a notch or 2 just for good measure.

I like the Gigabyte cards, I have the 9600 pro and got it over
other cards of the same chipset just because it was fanless.

Gigabyte makes good products-IMO..

Go here for some info: It can be a mind-numbing exercise
keeping track of the changes in the VPU industry.

You said you want one without a fan on it ? Why is that ? It helps to keep the card from overheating, and video editing needs a fairly good card anyways.

Wow that cooling kit looks rediculously complicated :).

If you can manage to spend 200, here is a perfect card for you.

It will play all games that are out today, though not with all the eye candy and excellent performance. As far as bang for your buck, the 6600 GT probably takes the all time crown. I would say it's a very wise investment for someone who games occasionally, but not hardcore.

It's sold at http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=322263 and thats probably the best price you'll find from any reputable company.

nah it was fairly simple, cept i got home at 10, started it at 12, and finished at 3 cause i screwed up twice. if you follow the directins its really easy.
