The 6800 was a revultionary card, when the 6800 came out alot of people jumped for the chance to upgrade and they did. Now since the 7800 hasnt shown the improvment the 6800 has, I think common conception is, that it's a waste of money, not great upgrade in performance etc.
Well, it's a huge updgrade and those who want to and can fork the money to get one...go ahead. As far as those still with the 6 series that will work just fine, even for people buying high end cards today.
