MY start up is mess up!

When i restart my computer, my computer screen turns from black to gray then it just stays there....i have a window xp home edition so if anyone can help me i apprieciate it. and this happens like 5 seconds after start up not in dos.

please post your hardware so we know what we are looking at. It sounds like your video card is toast. Do you have another computer that you can borrow the video card from?

I think my video card is ok, and i cant get the hardrives because my computer wouldnt start up and this just happen after i end some process and then it froze up( the mouse too) so i restarted it and it wouldnt start.......

can you get into the bios? Or is there no video at all?

Yes i can get into the bios

ok that means the card works...sounds like windows broke. Try to get into safe mode. Post back with results. If you can get into safe mode you can view the event logs and share that information.

yes I've tried that already...it didnt do anything
