Graphics card Advice

Hello,
I am building my first computer and am on a 1k budget(can go around 1500 but preferably not). I am looking for a PCI-E x16 Graphics card as i plan this to be a gaming computer. Does anybody have suggestion on cards to buy or cards i shouldn't buy? All help would be appreciated

I would actually suggest saving a few bucks and getting a 6800GT and OC'ing it to Ultra speeds. It is usually not a problem at all.

If you need to go even a little cheaper than that, get the 6600GT.

If he has about $1000 to spend, why would he get the X900 series? That'll cost him at least half of that amount.
