My buddy wants to upgrade is Ram for his gaming PC, he currently has some value crap. His mobo is MSI Neo Plat. 2

Here's his choices: 4 PC3200 (2x512) kits...

OCZ Rev 2's 2.2.2.5

Bah....why don't you put the name of it below each link so I can be lazy and not have to click on it.

Normally I'd jump on OCZ plat rev2's right away, but since they switched from TCCD to TCC5 chips it's a toss up because those PQI's are probably still using TCCD (this is probably why OCZs prices dropped drastically on these is because of the TCC5 chips)

Although I've heard success stories with the TCC5's it seems like they aren't quite as reliable in terms of overclocking as TCCD chips.....honestly I might have to lean towards the PQI Turbos in this one.

I'd take the Rev2s since I would never get XMS and I'm unfamiliar with PQI turbos, plus the Rev2s are a lot cheaper.

I looked around and most results from the tcc5s are about the same nubi, speedbinning on them is a bit tighter which is one factor, but they're the same die as tccd and most of them still seem to be getting 275MHz easily enough, hopefully mine are lucky :D

Nubius - Since I can trust what you have to say about memory, i'll ask you this question.

Will he see a preformance increase going from Value Ram to High Preformance RAM with 2.2.2.5 timings?

If yes. What kind of increases? What type of appz?
If no. Why not?

What gaara said is correct.....the timings wont impact performance at all....this is why I always tell people to get valueRAM if they aren't overclocking because you'll never notice the difference between valueRAM and high performance RAM at stock settings.

Regarding PQI Turbo heres a little snippit from the Brainpower identification article.

PQI Turbos outperform the OCZ platinum rev2s...the timings are really loose but I believe that's because they weren't adding voltage or anything like that.

PQI's are also a good OC'ing RAM....and since they are using TCCD and not TCC5 this is why I suggested them :p
