How to delete a program permanently from my pc

Hello ladies & gentlemen,
How do i remove a program permanently from my computer ? I have already remove the program with add and remove but it still appears each time i start my computer, please help, THANKS.

first what is the program?

The program is Avast antivirus trial version. I decide to uninstall it after trying it for some few days and return to my normal antivirus program. I uninstall it sucessfully from add and remove but the icon still appears each time i restart my computer, i tried to uninstall it again, but the icon is no more in add and remove, how do i delete it from windows registry ? THANKS.

where is the icon. In add/remove? in a folder? on your start menu?
