I have a client with 2 computers. I sold him a MYHOPPER 2 Port KVM switch so he can swap between one and the other computer.

He's connected to the internet via 56k Modem. And with that being sead, there is only one computer accessing the internet at one time. There is NO INTERNET LINE SHARING.

Both Computers are networked together via a cross over cable.

One computer is Windows 2000, the other computer is Windows Xp Pro.

The problem that he is experiencing is when he uses the KVM to switch from one computer to another. He will normally start a download* via IE, and then he would swap over to the other computer for some work. A few minutes later, he goes back to the computer that is downloading, and his download has either stopped, or slowed completely down. And it's only then that things speed up for him.

* Normal downloads. He's not into BT or P2P.

Now I use these KVMs a lot at work, and this is the first time I have ever seen these KVMs cause the computer to slow down. And i got the disty saying that it's the first time he's heard of this problem.

And idea on what is going wrong?

Could some one suggest to me a good download manager as I don't trust IE that much.
