Alright, bought a; Seagate Barracuda 120GB Serial ATA 7200rpm 8MB Buffer hard dive. I purchaced it online, although I didn't include the SATA HOST Adapter. Is it a necessity to have for it to work or is it an option to have it run faster as I hear SATA stats do?

It was an extra $50.00 so I hesitated, but I need it or you think I should need it, let me know. My comp is for gaming.

Uhhhh,, YES!!!

the reason for the SATA is to run through the SATA connector and get the advantages of the SATA,,,

If you run it IDE,, why bother buying the SATA drive??

In canada,, I bought the wire lead and the Connector for $40 ,,

shop around ,, should be cheaper in Cali,, I thought they had everything out there for nothing??

cheers,

The data transfer speed for IDE is 66/100 or 133 for ultra.
The data transfer rate for SATA is 150 so yes you need the adapter if you want to take advantage of the serial ATA drive

Alright, Thanks. I figured as much. I guess next paycheck I've got some shoppage do. But for know am I able to use my hard drive with out it?
