My computer recently got its registry all messed up thanks to a virus; but even after the virus was gone, the computer still had issues. The only way I can see to fix this is to start over and reboot the whole system. However, I would like to keep the files I currently have on my machine, so I need to find a way to hold these files so I can put them back on my computer later.

I have 2 hard drives on my machine, so I was considering putting all the files I would like to save on the secondary drive, and then remove it until the system is wiped clean. I'm hesitant to do this because I'm afraid that just yanking out the drive could wipe the data anyway.

If you guys could help me out and tell me whether this would work, or give me alternatives, that'd be great.

Awesome, would I have to do anything before removing it, like disabling it or something? Or would just opening up the computer right away work?
