do pci video cards work on new mobos????

^ just bought an asus socket 939 motherboard here is a link:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131510

just built a new pc and im on a tight budget so i decided to buy everything except the video card until i can get more money so as a substitute i decided i was gonna use a very old pci 8mb video card since the mobo doesnt have any onboard video, the problem is is that when i hook everything up the computer turns on but there is absoluty no signal going to the monitor i cant even get into the bios to change the primary video to pci. because asus is known for gaming mobos i was wondering if the video card is to crappy for the mobo to reckognize it.

any help would be greaty appretiated

as you mentioned, the reason there is no signal is that the default video port is the agp, not pci. you might want to check out asus's support site, maybe email them. or if you know what kind of bios you have you could figure out the right keystrokes to change it without seeing it on the screen. there's probably an easier way but thats all i can think of.
