I just recently built a computer and have been trying to install windows xp for the past 3 days. It will always get to the same spot then say It does not recognise any hard drives and it restarts. I have a western digital SATA drive and I've tried every combination of the drivers that I could think of on the driver disk. Please help me, I would really like to get this computer going.

For SATA drives you need drivers for them. You say you've tried drivers, but did you put them onto a floppy disk, and when Windows starts it will say something like "Press F6" to use the drivers? I think this is what you must do.

You can obtain the drivers from the Western Digitial website.

I have the drivers on a floppy disk that came with the hard drive and I do the f6 thing. I've tried all of them on the disk but it still doesnt work.

For some reason it detectd the CD-ROM drive but I cant see the hard drive in BIOS. Where on Western Digital's site is the driver downloads, I want to make sure I have the right ones.
