Bought a new CPU Heatsink...

Ok, i've just done a bit of research on google. I read one method of using a hair dryer to heat up the thermal compound a bit and then twisting the CPU in a clockwise direction.

Would you recommend this method?
 
That is what I did, minus the hairdryer though. lol, I think the heat in my hands, may of melted it, or using the PC about 30mins before I took it out, it wasn't hot enough to let the thermal coupound losen its self though.
 
Woo! I just used my sister hairdryer on it on low settings for 30 seconds and it came off with ease! :)

Now i just need to put it back in the case without breaking and pins!! :eek:

Is there any specific way round it needs to go in?
 
Make sure that the ZIF lever is in the 'up' position first.

There will be one corner of the CPU that looks different than the rest.

There will also be one corner of the socket that looks different.

Line the 2 different corners up. And gently set the CPU into the socket.

After you have set the CPU into the socket, you should be able to pull the lever down and lock it into place.
