Intermittent CD-RW Drive

I have a CD-RW drive which has been playing up for sometime now, and has been in two of my PCs, using various software.

I am trying to record data and/or music files to good quality CD-Rs, using latest Roxio Easy CD Creator.

Although, the software recognizes the "blank recordable CD" it starts the process, then ejects the CD prior to writing to it.
This can periodically be resolved by re-booting, but not alwasy so, especially after a few CDs have been written.

Is it overheating , or something, any ideas?

Try updating the firmware

Does it give you any kind of errors when it spits it out?

get a cleaning kit, its probably dirty.

I've had a similar problem before. Are you using any other burning software besides Easy CD Creator? I've heard there can be conflicts amoung different types of burning software.

Can't find firmware for WPI (Wearnes) CDRWs for XP, note that this drive is approx. 6 years old.
Error message is "Errors were detected during the recording or on your new disc".
Had been meaning to get a cleaning kit, but haven't tracked one down yet - hope this solves the problem!
