You can run dual channel with 2 sticks.

I'm not sure about your raid question. I would run 1 ide drive stand alone for your games/os/software.. Then use the other drive for storage. Theres really no sense in putting your OS install on a raid.. Other than you have a 50% greater chance of something breaking.

i did it for speed basically, but you're right about something breaking. unfortunately i have no idea how i would go about getting my data back into non raid format. i'd have to buy a new drive pretty much

I'd do it if possible. Theres a good chance you'll lose all your data going to a new controller anyway.

what do you mean "going to a new controller".... you mean a new raid controller ?
