partition magic 8.0 error 1611

get error 1611 with partition magic 8.0 on when trying to merge two ntfs 20gb partitions from same drive into one 40gb
says bad file name, 9 (48)

this is some MFT error on the ntfs drive but do not know how to fix

chkdsk /f was no help

I'm not a huge fan of PM 8.0. Are you using XP? If not, install 7.0. If you are using WinXP, install DiskKeeper on your machine and run a boot time defragmentation on everything (including the MFT fix). This should fix the problem.
On a side note, I don't know what Power Quest's problem is but their support is terrible. Half of their solutions involve running chkdsk with the /f switch and this has never fixed any of my problems that I've ever had with PM 8.0.
