Want to buy this for a friend...

Want to buy a new processor for my friend who is upgrading his dell. Here are the specs for his computer stock:

Now, it says it supports up to 2.4 ghz, 512k cache, 400 mhz fsb, sckt478.

Now, I want to buy this off EBAY, it's a good price:

Would it work?

it should work but you never know. i have been hearing about a lot of people having problems with dell and upgrading their processors but it usually is solved by flashing the BIOS. i would guess that that would work though.

I dont think I see a socket type for the dell.... but other then that, it looks good.

Check out the socket type first though.

upgrading cpu won't help him much

just get him a stick of 512 or if he has less than ddr400 ram, get him a gig of ddr400 ram

Umm, it is a 1.6 Ghz, Socket 478 MoBo.

So yeah, should he stick with the 1.6 or just get another 512 of ram?
