I have an Express DV with a Canopus Transcoder. I have patched a VHS machine to the trancoder and can input composite video into the DV Express.

However, I can not get the edited DV material back out through the transcoder to composite tape.

Any ideas on how to fix this output problem?

Interesting..
I'm assuming there are two switchs on the transcoder- one in, one out. It should be set to in.

Let me have some info from you..
What OS are you on? Is this Avid Xpress DV? I'm assuming it is connected via FireWire IEEE 1394, right? Did drivers come with the Canopus?
You may also consider bypassing the problem and buying a DVD burner.. :)

Get back to me on those few things.

YES, I am definitely in the market for a DVD burner, but many of my clients only have VHS.

I was using this set up at my parttime place of employment. There it was attached to a betacam 1800 and worked well.

Yes, the transcoder has a switch: analogue in/DV in.

When inputting from tape it is set to analogue in, when outputting to tape it is set to DV in.

Avid Express DV/ OS is Windows XP Professional/ FireWire IEEE 1394 / Dell Pentium Laptop - One internal drive and one external. Output from internal drive.

Thanks!
