BEST VALUE computer set to get

Hi, I was wondering what is the best chip and motherboard to get at the moment that is not too out of date but cheap and is good valued. I am looking for something over 2 ghz. I just want to build a computer for everyday use and maybe a bit of gaming. Thanks

most people here will probably recommend an AMD Athlon 64 2800-3200, 939 socket, and a 939 socket motherboard.

i would go with amd 64 300 make sure its a 939 socket and CHAINTECH S1689 mobo. If you wanan go cheaper than that get an amd xp2800 and a ASUS A7V8X-X mobo both very good just depends on how much you want to spend.

I'd say yes to that Athlon 64 3000+ (Venice core)
but no to the Chaintech motherboard. the quality of Chaintech is not very good

I would recommend the Abit AV8, or the 3rd eye if you're overclocking

Thanks. Sounds good. I think I'll get the 64bit with abit av8-3rd eye, but what type of ram is good for this motherboard when overclocking?
